Our History

Gourmet Boutique was founded in 1996. We recall beginning as “Ernie’s Mini Mart,” a 2000 square foot manufacturer of meatballs and pasta dishes in Queens, NY. Our small size necessitated utilization of “micro manufacturing” techniques such as hand cutting vegetables and proteins and small batch production to replicate classic culinary techniques.

As our company grew, we continued our focus on these high quality production processes which to this day, remain one of our core competencies.

Recipe Development

We are fully equipped with our own professional R&D lab, practicing proprietary recipe development. The Gourmet Boutique R&D Team are all Graduates of The Culinary Institute of America with degrees in food science.

We provide category management and marketing support, plan-o-gram design and support, promotional sales tools and support, customized solutions, and consumer insights.

Food Strategy

We use strong, classic culinary techniques providing artisan appearance. We practice hand made, small batch production, combined with large volume manufacturing capability. Real food made by real people!

Packing & Shipment

We produce approximately 25,000,000 lbs. of product per year in both fresh and frozen formats. All foods are packed MAP. Fresh, with a 14-28 day shelf-life and frozen, with 6 months to 1 year.

We are LEVEL 3 SQF

Gourmet Boutique has once again attained certification as a Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 Level 3 Food Manufacturer by the independent certifying body, NSF International. Our score of 96, rates as “excellent” and  places us at the top of an elite group of food manufacturers who have implemented this level of food safety and quality programs.

The SQF Institute, a division of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), is the leading global food safety quality certification system. SQF is designed as a food safety program, but it also incorporates product quality, a feature that is unique to a certification program of this type. Assuring consistent quality and meeting buyer specifications are important aspects of the buyer-supplier relationship. SQF certification is supported by an increasing number of U.S. and International retailers and food service providers who express a preference for suppliers who implement HACCP based (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) food safety and quality management systems.
